I was on the radio... yes me! :)

You wouldn't believe it (me neither if I wasn't there :D) but I was a studio guest in a one hour student radio show today. Was actually fun! Did I forget to tell you beforehand so you could listen on the internet??? oooohhh ;) Well it was quite spontaneous. The friend who's doing the show asked me on Tuesday.

Last Sunday I was at a game of the women soccer team. They won 8:0!!! (really no chance for the other team) So after that game they became the Swedish Masters 2007. Umeå has one of the best women soccer teams (at least in Sweden) with some players playing in the national team. And one of the team is Swiss!!! :)

This week I had my first two meetings with my tandem partner Lina. What's that? She is learning German and I'm learning Swedish. So we meet and once we speak Swedish and the next time German together. She lived for 9 months in Germany some years ago so her German is a bit better than my Swedish. It's a great opportunity to learn the language!

It's been a while...

It's been a while since I last wrote on my blog! There was a lot going on during the last week and I was away. Last week my parents visited me here in Sweden. They arrived with the perfect autumn weather showing Umeå from it's best side. Almost the whole week was nice weather so I could show them the most important part when you go hiking in Sweden: starting a fire and grill sausages! :)

We drove all together down to Hofors, where my father's sister lives. And suprise surprise! in the "south" (still north of Stockholm) we had the first snow this year!!! Not a lot but enough to cover the grass a bit for some hours. It's still pretty warm (around 10 degrees) in Umeå so we still have to wait for the snow.

On Saturday my parents flew back home and I went to Stockholm to meet my friends Nadja and Claudia. We had some fun days in Stockholm seeing Stockholm from the boat, walking a lot!, getting up having no idea what the weather was (our youth hostel was "underground"), taking funny pictures, eating delicious pastries, listening to pippi longstocking stories,...

Now I'm back inUmeå and hoping my luggage unpacks itself, hoping snow is arriving soon, noticing that days are really shorter in Umeå than Stockholm, having a new Lindgren-book on my night table, having good memories...

International Dinner

Wow, I ate soooooo much today. We had an international dinner with our mentor group. Everyone had to bring a dish from their own country (I brought "Wähe"). The food was so delicious and certainly we had to try from everything: Frikadeller, Wiener Schnitzel, Potato Salad, Crèpe, lots of cakes, Tortilla, Bayrische Creme, Kanelbullar, Greek salad... and much more (food that I don't remember the name :D).

I'm very happy to live where I live here in Umeå. It's one of the nicest student areas - near to the lake, near the university and a lot of nature around. On Saturday I went to a party at a korridor in Ålidhem - another stundent area. It's the biggest area and I don't know how many thousend students there live. Anyway, I was going there on my own and looking for the house for some time and realizing in the end that I've been there two weeks before! It looks all the same there!!!

It doesn't feel so cold here (you can still see people in t-shirts outside) - around 10 degrees I would guess. But autumn is definitely here and it has shown all its facets last weekend. Saturday was beautiful weather and being outside seeing the autumn leaves was awesome. Sunday was the total oposite it was wet and grey. And then I remembered why some people don't like autumn. But I still think it's beautiful...

Here you soon!
